Would the Conservatives be considering Blackmailing ?

I wouldn;t worry about it if I were Bush. I mean, what are they gonna do? Vote for democrats?

Actually that might not be out of the realm of possibilities. I know several republicans that have stated in the next election they will not vote for Bush's re election. Not voting for him can have the same effect, because you can bet the Dems will be energized to take advantage of Bush's vulnerabilities, of which there are many.

Where are the "fiscally responsible free thinkers"?

400Billion entitlement? Here is your chance people - Bush blatantly creating more Gov't again spending 40 Billion plus per year!

<gasp> (I get to join the Bush bashing - I feel so patriotic now since I'm doing my duty to criticize the administration 😀)
I think this is a collosal waste of Federal tax money and Bush is destroying any chance at balacing a budget in the near future. If there was a decent candidate (who didn't want to waste even more of my tax dollars) I would vote for them instead of Bush in 2004. Unfortunately Bush has little to worry about as MTM pointed out - who else can we(who oppose Bush on this issue) vote for? A democrat who will push an 80billion(smallest package announced) per year Univ Health Care package? Nope. Buchannon? HeHe -nope😛 Unfortunately we are stuck unless there is a middle of the road person who can gain enough support to take enough votes away from both Bush and the Dem candidate to win - otherwise it'll be a lost cause.

This plan sucks, Bush.:disgust:

Yes this is monsterous waste. The only hope is that it leads to privatization, but i am not optimistic on that. The plan would be far larger is passed by the other side.

Consider for a few moments the affect of having everyone an employee of the US... no state government.. etc.. everyone is a federal employee.. ok now all the folks determine the value of the various occupations.. and we go forth and farm, mfg, service and war and all that.. and no tax... the salaries are paid out of the profits ... no unemployment.. ... what do ya think about this.. plan?

Wow, I think pigs just flew outta my a$$... Just kidding. Wow, CAD - I just knew you could do it 😉

By the way, I think the chance to balance the budget has long been destroyed... Somehow, I think that was the plan -- some are suggesting the BA is trying to destroy government social plans from the inside out. Essentially overspending in order to force drastic cut-backs in programs down the line. Personally, I'm not sure. With all of his spending, however, he's starting to look more demo/liberal than conservative. Hence the outrage by the uber-conservatives...

Actually the ability to balance the budget is not destroyed. We are not a record levels of debt to GDP ratio. It is on the rise, but it has been much higher.

Sounds a hell of a lot like Communism to me, and we all know how that worked out.

Yep- aren't you proud of my "patriotism"?

(for those that don't know - the new democrat definition of patriotism is criticizing the Administration)

Well, even if the "master plan" is to destroy social programs from the inside out it still sucks. But it does make for an interesting conspiracy theory.

This plans isn't even backed by most senior citizens since most(I'll dig up the supporting polls and info if I can remember where it is) have drug plans already and this plan would actually cost them more due to co-pays and such. And not only that but it could cause alot of the insurance plans to drop the "old people" since now they'll have a gov't option for "cheap drugs".
If you gotta have it, Bush - PRIVATIZE IT!

So if you don't work for the feds and worked for the same folks you'd have worked for and paid tax to give the fed their cut.. all would be ok..

If they would just pass that mandatory cigarette smoking law for seniors we'd solve this problem of them living too long.

Given the huge taxes on cigarettes, that wouls solve 2 problems at once.
