Would the 5850 be a good upgrade for me?

thinking about going from the 8800gts to the 5850, but I'm not sure if the rest of my system can really take advantage of it.

currently running an E6600 @ 3.2ghz w/ 4GB ram

any thoughts?

At that CPU speed you should be ok. Your PSU will also handle it assuming it is the same one as in your sig as your CPU is different.

yeah with your system you would easily get 90-95% out of the 5850 at 1920x1200. GTA4 would be about the only game that would be really held back because of your cpu. that game needs an i5/i7 cpu to run at its best.

Probably closer to 3 times the performance at 1920x1200 resolution. Definitely a good upgrade.

you will see a huge difference in gaming, but if you get a faster cpu later you can get even more out of that card. like an i5 quad.
