Would subscribing to Adelphia's "Premier High-Speed Internet" be worth it?

I'm about to move into a new apartment and I have a choice between regular and faster cable service. For $15 more a month, I would be getting up to 6 Mbps as opposed to 4 Mbps and uploading is doubled from up to 384 Kbps to 768 Kbps. There is also free web hosting and greater email capacity, but I don't really care about that.

Have you guys had any experience with the faster service? How do they achieve this faster speed anyway? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had premier service at my old business, it was super great. I knew the network admins, so we had more upload than 768kbps, but it was very quick. They provide the faster service by uncapping your service -- the speeds you get are not maxed out at all, but are instead artificially limited by Adelphia. I enjoyed it overall - downloading things was fun. Gaming was hit or miss for us here in Colorado because the latency is kinda mediocre (70-100ms everywhere), but other than that it was superb.

Is it worthwhile for home us? No. 3mbps should be plenty.

Unless you do heavy gaming or uploads, you won't notice 384 vs 768.
