Would my new Asus eeepc netbook run Vista smoothly?

I have previously posted the same question at the Operating forum that's received no bite.

I have a new eeep6 1000HA en route from ZZF that will be here shortly.
Though the new book has a window xp preloaded but I have another idea in mind.
Why not running Vista on it since I happen to have an extra Vista Ultimate disc that was bought for a new desktop rig that never materialized.
En route is another 2gb dim from the Egg to replace the 1gb came loaded with the netbook.

The new book is mainly used for on the go which includes email/web browsing/photo/music viewing/listening and some small office07 work.
Since all of my other desktop/laptops are Vista OS so I figure it would make sense to turn this little guy into one as well.
With Atom processor and 2gb ram. Would Vista run or crawl in this little guy?

Vista will run fine, just don't expect to run it with Aero.

It may even feel more responsive with Vista than with XP. Superfetch is a nice feature, provided you have 2gb of RAM (which you do). There's other subtle things I like about Vista more than XP (property windows show up in the taskbar for instance)

Battery life will go down though. I was in the same situation as you, deciding whether to run Vista or not on my 1000HA.

From what I've read, battery life can go down nearly 20% (the example I saw had 5 hours with XP, 4:15 hours with Vista).

I ultimately stuck with XP since battery life is the reason I bought a 1000HA over cheaper netbooks.
