My Athlon X2 4200+ is currently cooled by a Thermalright SI-120. The instructions explain how to use this with a P4 but that was in 2006. I don't know if newer Intel CPUs are much different in their socket or retention mechanism (Socket T vs Socket 478).

Also, would it still be better than the stock HSF?
My last Intel CPU was a Celeron 500 so I'm kinda behind the times (and might still stick with AMD).

Yeah, it's compatable with socket-T, but not right out of the box, you need to buy the XP-120/90/c/SI Retension Bracket.
