Would my current HSF fit on a Intel E 8600?

My Athlon X2 4200+ is currently cooled by a Thermalright SI-120. The instructions explain how to use this with a P4 but that was in 2006. I don't know if newer Intel CPUs are much different in their socket or retention mechanism (Socket T vs Socket 478).

Compatibility: AMD Athlon 64 Socket 754/939/940 processors, Intel P4 Socket 478

Also, would it still be better than the stock HSF?

My last Intel CPU was a Celeron 500 so I'm kinda behind the times (and might still stick with AMD).

Edit: OK. Google says this.

Yeah, it's compatable with socket-T, but not right out of the box, you need to buy the XP-120/90/c/SI Retension Bracket.

Bummer! 🙁
