Depends on the MotherBoard

The 9600 Pro I believe is a 4x/8x AGP Card, Some of the Later P3 Boards could run 2x/4x

If you have a board capable of runnign 4x AGP then the 9600 should work fine at 4x
 
Your MB most likely only supports 2X AGP and regardless of the bandwidth actually used, the driver for the 9600 won't like the port. I know from trying on my own PIII 500mhz.
