have a friend who has had 4 abortions in a rather short time period... anyone know if it's detrimental to one's health?
 
like roughly 2 years... i duno 2 babies per year is a lot imo... it's not like she's poor either. she's like, "my bf doesn't like using a condom and if i get pregnant i'll just go through the routine abortion..." since she can supposedly get it somewhere for cheap.

My finger is hovering over the BS button. Getting an abortion performed is anything but routine for 99.9999% of women. She could be on the pill or a variety of other female contraceptives, so why go through all the time/money/hassle of the doctor's visits?

That's my biggest problem with the legality of abortion - the laissez-faire attitude towards life it causes in some people.

She's definitely ultra-irresponsible, but unfortunately this is not that unusual (though her raw number is impressive). Abortions normally do not hurt the patient, but you never know, and there are certainly plenty of women out there who either can't have kids or have major complications with pregnancy because of a botched abortion.

I'm sorry, but this still sounds fictional to me. Taking a pill once a day or something is a lot easier than going through all the doctor's visits to get an abortion performed. No one in their right mind would do what she's doing and no one's health insurance would put up with that kind of crap.

I'm sorry, but this still sounds fictional to me. Taking a pill once a day or something is a lot easier than going through all the doctor's visits to get an abortion performed. No one in their right mind would do what she's doing and no one's health insurance would put up with that kind of crap.

LA area. ill give some background on the couple's relationship... one has been to jail for about 6 months and one has not graduated from high school.

Well if she isn't good at taking a pill everyday at about the same time there are a lot of other alternatives out there. There is a birth control patch that you slap on once a week that works just as well as the pill. And there are more long term solutions with implants and the like.

Abortions are a medical procedure. There will always be a risk of infertility or greater. If she is seeing a shady doctor for the abortions, she could be putting her life at risk also.
