Would Marilyn Monroe be considered 'hot' in today's standards????

I know. I think its horrible, but you look in any cosmo magazine or even Maxim....she "physically" would not fit. She was very pretty, kind of a classic beauty

It has been my observation that even tho' the media keeps pitching the skinny waif with implants, men still prefer women who are at the correct weight for their body type/ frame and are naturally endowed as opposed to 'modded'. Fitness is more important than size... you could have a twig with no muscle tone at all who will feel like bopping a bag of skin and bones or you could have a normal sized woman (and by that I mean, 'fit and healthy') with firm flesh. Which would you choose?

Attraction has a basis on how fertile and healthy a female is... and a starving woman is usually neither. Models are notoriously unhealthy... same with ballerinas. Sure, they have the 'look' for a while in their youth... but most don't age well unless they change their ways and start eating right.

Biology... you can't fight it!

(BTW, Marilyn was beautiful, but *not* very healthy... and that had to do with the way she treated her body, too. )

I totally agree..... in fact, I think a woman has to be PROPORTIONATED..... so I would take a "chunky" lady with good proportions over a stick any day......

Funny you should mention it.

There's a friend of mine from high school who was around 5'11", almost as tall as me, could bench more than most guys I knew.... etc. Wide hips, etc. But she was fit. She ran, played volleyball, etc etc. And she was (and still is) one of the most attractive women I know.

It's all about proportion and fitness, in my opinion.

I saw some study on this, what is called the golden hip ratio. Almost all of the idealized supermodel gorgeous women throughout history have the same ratio of hips to waist. Its roughly .7, there was a documentary on TLC a while back. They believe that we can see this ratio and it subconciously triggers a message of fertility to men. It makes sense to me.

There's some study that was done that proved that men tend prefer this certain ratio of a womans hips to her waist. I can't remember the numbers or the site, but they basically said that many of women that have been idolized as "beautiful" have met this criteria of being in that ratio of hips to waist. It didn't matter of the woman was a size 0 or a size 6, men tended to prefer them over any others.
