Long time since I have posted here, but still know where the experts are.:D

Right now I have Dish (non HD) and OTA HD coming to my 42" PDP - and would like to extend at least the Dish feed to this set through a PC setup.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16824254026

I know I need a proper video card, but I am not exactly sure about what resolution to look for, as I think that I have to match 1 for 1 pixel matching with the vid card, right?

Maybe a bump to get me started in the proper direction. I imagine I would need a card that would be able to input the coax from the Dish reciever, but I have not seen that yet.

Ideas, PLEASE!
:)

So you want to run your HD Sat and OTA through a PC to get to the TV? Do you already have another cable box? That monitor will accept component from your cable box, and you can get an HD OTA tuner for your PC.

The back of the set has HDMI, D-sub and audio in. How could a round coax from the Dish receiver plug in back there? I had thought it would have to go through a video card.

The coax is already routed to the bedroom, so that is my main intention - to get that going. The OTA would be a bonus if workable.

Thanks for all your help.

No. I have the Dish box. What I want is to be able to use a monitor like that ..connecting the coax to - what I thought would be a vid card - then to the monitor.
I may be way off track, and if I am - just write it up to Newbee-itis!

Just get a Hauppague PVR-150 MCE and and an ATI HD-TV Wonder (Hell, I'll sell you mine) The PVR-150 has RCA jacks for your dish box, and allows your computer to control it. The ATI card will act as your OTA HD tuner. Use Windows Media Center. Also I'd suggest getting the cheap current generation nVidia card as it will have HDCP and you can run that over DVI>HDMI to your television.

Thanks. Sounds like a plan.
After I pull out that spare PC that I have partially stripped, I may get back with you on that card.

ONE question.
You mentioned the PC controlling what the monitor displays. Right now pretty much everything that comes through Dish to my 42" PDP is displayed full screen as the 'horizon' setting for the set expands it out.
Will I be able to expand this out pretty easily to fill a 16x9 screen without too much complication? I imagine that it would be done through the software on the PC end.

QUICK EDIT. What about a remote. Since it all would be going through the PC, is there a remote I should look to getting - or just use the TV remote.

My wife does not care that much for complication. After all, I am enough complication for her right now! :)

Thanks
