Would it pay to upgrade my cable modem from Motorola Surfboard SB3100 TO SB5100?

I use Cox broadband and I wonder if my connection speed would increase.

Even the worst cable modems are capable of around 45megabits per second. If your cable company offers that kind of speed.... you should be hosting this forum.

Nope. I had a 3100 I was renting, and replaced it with a 5100 to save the $10 a month. I saw no speed increase.
