Would it be safe to say Johnny Depp is a top 3 of our generation?

Just finished watching Blow again, having not seen it for a couple years. Fantastic movie, if not a little unrealistic since the real George admits to being socially inept, but Johnny Depp's performance was incredible. And it always seems to be as well, whether its Fear and Loathing or Edward Scissorhands or whatever, he seems to get into his parts so well.

At this point, I can't think of a better actor in the 20-40ish range. I get laughed at a lot for thinking this of him, but am I alone?

He's a good actor but I don't like him personally. When the U.S. was about to go to war in Iraq, he said he would move to France if the war happened, and likened the U.S. to a 'sick puppy dog.' Yet he continues to make movies here and reap the benefits of American society (i.e. milking Americans out of millions right into his pockets) while denouncing it as 'troubled' and 'sick.'

I'm certainly no warhawk (voted for Kerry, etc.), but I can certainly see the hypocrisy in his actions.

he's pretty good. I'll take Edward Norton over him though.

Speaking of which, where has Norton been

meh, and actors performance just has to be good if the film is great. doesn't matter how good of an actor is if your film is cr@p. so i think he's overrated.

Maybe Jennifer Aniston will help improve his acting skills, but somehow I don't think so.

as far as acting he is one of the best...personality wise kinda off

but yeah he plays so many roles that range from this to that...very broad range of characters compared to most actors these days
