Would it be possible to make a good amount of money over the summer making web pages?

Is it a feasible idea? Instead of a "summer job", to devote my time during the summer to web design - would I make any money?

I imagine you could make a bit of money doing such.

I would suggest $25 per month for each client.

Also a $5 charge to buy the domain for them and set it up.

ok, so $50 then...

I would charge $25 to begin with and then after getting more clients drawn in, rasing it slightly.

Sorry, maybe I'd be a fool and not get paid enough, but I think that would be reasonable..

I think it's crazy.

I know people who made more money with making a few websites, than anybody would working full time during the whole summer.

I'm assuming here you're ~18 years of age and with no real experience to show. If you know friends with a PR consulting business who could pass you some work as an employee of theirs, you may get some decent regular work - but it's very doubtful you'll make much otherwise. :)

If you're designing it from scratch from home, negotiate for $12-$20 an hour while in the design process. Then simply and honestly keep track of your hours of work while at home on a spreadsheet or whatever. I'm guessing you won't be actually configuring a server but instead getting a virtual host for them from a hosting company? If you're not going on-site for any server work, don't charge extra for this either.

If you know what you're doing, you can charge hourly for design work. Even $20/hour would be considered cheap for web site design. Perhaps you should ask this question at the Site Point Forums. You will find loads of web designers there. :)

It all depends on how good you are, and what specifically you are doing. If you are making asp pages, setting them up for e commerce, and desigining flash movies. Yeah you can charge an arm and a leg, but if you are mearly setting up a few (<20) pages for them with basic information and maybe some pictures, you can't charge too much, maybe $20 per 4 pages. If you are really skilled you may get more.

Thanks for all the replies. Yeah, well I am just asking because I already spend lots of time on the computer, and have messed with websites b4. If I thought I could make some money, I'd spend this week learning real good ASP, and other important things I'd need to know, and I'd get started on finding people to build sites for.
