FuseTalk 3.1 - Copyright © 1999-2002 FuseTalk Inc. All rights reserved.

Right at the bottom so yes it would be illegal unless you got permission.

Actually, that says FuseTalk is copyrighted, it makes no mention of whether or not the avatars are included.

Maybe so, but the copyright notice doesn't say that.

SO I guess since it doesn't state every piece of the software is part of fusetalk, I could steal whatever isn't listed.

We are talking on fusetalk, Avatars are part of Fusetalk. No other way to look at it.

I'm just saying that you can't automatically assume the copyright at the bottom of the page applies everything on the page. It certainly doesn't apply to the content of the posts, or the AnandTech logo. Many forum software packages allow the administrator to add thier own avatars and icons, that don't neccesarily have any relation to the software itself. The forum software could very well be copyrighted, and still use public domain avatars.

Well I guess since I have paid attention to the Forum Issues, I have seen many people post about adding new Avatars and Zuni says he won't be adding any to fusetalk right now. So they are part of Fusetalk.

But you can always ask for permission :)

These avatars were designed by the FuseTalk staff for their software only. I'm guessing that they're copywrited in some way.

does Fusetalk allow users to upload their own Avatars?

I know Anandtech does not, is that a restriction in place by software or by the forum?
