switch my Chieftec aluminium dragon casing (with the stamped metal grills removed and running 4 Panaflo L1A's at full speed) to an Antec SLK3700AMB (with 2x120mm fans, prolly panaflos). Would the airflow be about the same?

I have no idea what making the noise in my case. It actually got louder AFTER I removed the stamped grills! But that's also after changing from 8RDA+ (passive-cooled NB) to a Abit NF7-S (active cooled). I even took out the fan of my Radeon 9700pro's fan and gave it a thorough cleaning.

I might get rid of the NB fan on my motherboard and replace it with the gold-colored Zalman passive heatsinks but I'm concerned that it might not like 1.7v w/o active cooling.

It's not very loud, but still pretty annoying when the room's quiet. What else could be making the noise.. the vid card?

Help?

Edit: Other info - Antec Trupower 430, YStech 80mm adjustable on SLK800A. Overclocked. Actually everything else is in sig!

You can start determining the sound culprit by simply unplugging each fan while the system is running. By process of elimination you can isolate the noise level created by each and ever fan.

I specifically bought a mobo with passive cooling on the NB chip for noise reduction. With a Silent Breeze HSF and a new Fortron PS, I am VERY please with the noise levels...I finally got to the point of being able to isolate individual noises from the PC (before it was impossible), and guess what...the loudest freakin thing in the case was the weenie little fan on my 9600 pro - so off she goes and I replaced with a Zalman passive. Works awesome, no more noise...man that fan was LOUD.
