It'll never happen.
My high school started at 7:30 and ended at 2:15. Six 1 hour classes, 30 minute lunch, 15 minute homeroom. Any class through 9:00 was a complete waste of time and spent instead on sleep. I work full-time now and
get out of bed at 7:45. When I was in high school, I had to get up at 5:45. :disgust:
They couldn't make the start time later because of busing requirements for the middle and elementary schools. But even if that wasn't an issue, if they started class at 10:00 the school day would end at 4:45, which would not leave enough time for sports, activities or after-school jobs.
It's a tough problem to solve. Teenagers need lots of sleep and lots of time for school, activities, homework, jobs and fun. 24 hours just isn't enough to handle all of that. It would be better to have:
8 hours sleep
2 hours wake-up/shower/breakfast
7 hours school
3 hours sports/activities
1 hour dinner
4 hours job
4 hours homework
3 hours play/friends
Hmmm, that's 32 hours.
