Would installing Linux on my Win 98 SE rig (without reformatting) mess things up?

I want Linux, but I don't want to go through the hassle of reformatting right now. Would it be feasible to try installing it with Windows 98 SE already installed? Or would Windows get really angry with me? Could I use something like boot magic or partition magic to get things set up correctly?

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Yes use Partition Magic and make sure you install lilo or grub on a boot disk so you won't have problems with your mbr ( master boot record ) on your drive. If you feel the need to use a Linux boot manager then remeber that "fdisk/mbr" is your friend if something should go wrong and you want to go back crying to windows.

Check out how I am doing it. I just outlined it in this other post:

other post

I used partition magic to set it up, and boot magic as my primary boot loader. I always put LILO or GRUB on the first sector of my "/boot" partition.

I also set up all of the above mentioned partitions in an extended partition and left windows in a primary partition

If you didn't want to partition, you can do a partitionless install. RH 7.1 offers this option, I'm not to sure on the other distro's. You can visit their site to find out more.
