Would I see a big difference by switching processors?

In system rig Scorpion I have a 2700+ 333FSB running stock at 2166 mhz.

Would I see a big difference by switching processors to 3000+ 400FSB?

This is the fastest processor this MOBO will take.

TIA

Mark

Some, but mostly because the 3000+ has twice the cache memory as the 2700+

ummmm... twice the cache? the 2700+ w/ 333fsb is a barton (512kb cache) the 3000+ w/ 400fsb is also a barton (512kb cache).

its stupid to spend the extra $140 for the tiny performance boost.
ur best bet is just to overclock ur 2700+

no. I willing to bet you won't notice any difference.

Overclock the current chip to a 400FSB if you can. 2700+ barton? Never heard of it.

see what your board can take and OC the fsb as high as it will be stable....now worth the upgrade cost IMHO...

make sure to run prime and memtest though....

im sorry, i didnt know the 2700+ was a thoroughbred. i always assumed it was a barton.
if ur 2700+ is before week 40 it is unlocked. i guess the only real way to check without literally taking the heatsink off and looking at it is to try and change the multi in bios. if u can successfully change the multi, ur cpu is unlocked

I have messed around alot with this and don't waste your money. Use what you got and OC it a little if you get nothing out of it stand pat till the 939's come out and down in price.
