Would I gain anything by upgrading

AN ATI-AIW 128 pro to something better? I am thinking of upgrading from my duron to an Athlon 2000xp or so. I don't need it for games and such just the video caputure part. I would convert my duron to an HTPC and built the new Athlon.
I should be able to use a pretty small HD in the HTPC, be playing videos off a disk?

One more quick question, has anyone used the video out on SIS cards, you can get them pretty cheap somethimes.

You could upgrade to a Radeon AIW if you like, or just put the AIW128 in the Duron box and get a "gaming card" for your new 2000XP. It really depends on what you're going to use it for.

Then what's the upgrade motivation? Even though you "won't be gaming" I think you would do well to get nothing less than a Radeon 7500 or gF2 MX. Hardware DVD acceleration, better overall performance than an integrated solution. Barring, of course, the mighty nForce2 IGP - which if you're going to make a new system from scratch I suggest you base it on. 🙂

Oh, yeah - stay the hell away from SiS. If you have to go complete bottom-line budget TV-out, get a Radeon 7000.
