run my brand new Athlon 1800 without a heatsink and fan? I have all my parts ready for my new setup except the hsf. Im debating whether or not I should wait for it in the mail.........

With an AMD cpu, it's a GIVEN that you'll damage it, it way beyond just a risk..

Your post is a joke, right? You're just kidding, aren't you? You're just trying to get a reaction, I hope.

But, if you're not joking, then the answer is no, don't run it without a HSF. It will fry.

If you're gonna run your CPU without a heatsink, order another one so it arrives when your HS does. You'll need it.

Heh your CPU will fry almost instantly, without at least a heatsink on it. We are not in the good ol days of 5x86 chips like the AMD K6-2s and Cyrixs that didn't need a HS/F.

It'll cost you double time. First for a new CPU, and second for the hospital bills that you will have when you check to see if the core is hot and burn the skin off your finger.
