Would I be considered a "new" customer?

Sibling currently has Internet service through local cable company.
Sibling cancels Internet service because he can no longer afford it.
I open new Internet service through same local cable company at the same address.

Am I a new customer? And if so, would I be able to take advantage of the special offers for new customers?

My guess would be yes, you are a new customer. Same address, different person paying the bills and getting services.

You gave you SSN to your cable company???

To the OP, I've gotten new sub pricing by just calling up and asking for it. Since you really are a new customer, I see no problem.

You are a new customer. I had someone install Dish service and he said that if we canceled and used someone else to make a new account they would be a new customer.

Yes. Used to do that with Comcast all the time. Also they consider you a new customer again if you don't have service in your name for 90days.

Yes, if not then hardly anyone would ever be a new customer. Most people are not the first people to live in their house\apartment.

Wow, your cable company checks your credit too? Comcast or TWC never did for me. When I last signed up to Comcast, I did it through a 3rd party website thanks to a hot deal that was posted here. I damn sure didn't use my SSN.

no. Address = account. The op may have to prove that he didn't receive those services.

nope. it's ssn. You could probably get away with it in an apt, but a house....they may ask questions after the third time.

No kidding. I don't hand out my SS# to basically anyone besides my employer and my bank.

What the hell do companies need with my personal government retirement account? Fed law says it can't be used as an ID - not that it has stopped anyone.
