Would I be a fool not to pick this up?

I am able to grab a Panasonic 50" 1080p plasma tv for $1199 plus tax locally. Model is 50pz80u. Best price I found locally was for $1799 at Sears. I currently have a Westy 47" 1080p monitor, would I be a fool not to jump on this deal? Someone talk me out of it, lol

Um, yes you would be a fool to pass that up. Great TV. It is the lowest end 1080p Panasonic, however it is a 2008 model and it still has a fantastic picture, and beats even the top tier Panny from 2007 IMO and definitely torches your Westy, lol. How may I ask are you getting this deal?

Just some connections I have through family. Yeah I expect it to smoke my Westy, but I am always weary of plasma's cause I like to game a bunch, not really worried about burn in, but just image retention stuff. I can always try it out too and if I dont like it send it back.

That's a great price, for a pretty nice tv. Is the 50pz80u your only option, or can you also get a deal on the next model up?

Yeah, that's a definite upgrade.

Question: Why in the hell did you get the Westinghouse to begin with?!? We warned you that it was junk before.

I ended up getting the TV last night and running it through 100 hours right now on a full screen movie looped.

The westy has been nothing but great to me, I have much respect for Westy because of all the monitors I have purchased from them. Never purchased a TV so I cant comment on those. They are obviously low end, but very solid and reliable from my experience and customer service has been nothing but great for me compared to other low end manufacturers. Have had the 47" monitor for about 2 years now and its been excellent to date, quality is very good other than the blacks. It is by far Much brighter than the plasma which is something I will miss if I choose to keep this one.
