They got the adaptive cruise control (which probably would have prevented the accident i got into last year) and also the blind spot warning thingy. Do insurance companies take these things into account when determining how much insurance you pay?

I can?t see it having an impact on your insurance, but calling them up to confirm whether it will, will tell you for sure.

Any possible rate reductions are going to be elclipsed by the fact that it is a $40k+ European car. It's an expensive to repair vehicle. All the safety features in the world won't stop a parking lot door dinger when you aren't even in the car.

If you want cheap insurance, buy a VW Passat Wagon or a Toyota Highlander. Those two cars are ridiculously cheap to insure. I've insured both of them.

That's what I was thinking...What you gain in insurance savings, you lose in all the other costs.

Though if he were already considering the Volvo against other vehicles, lowered insurance could very well be something to put in the Pros column

If you want to reduce your insurance, sell your car and start riding the bus. Buying a $40k car makes me want to ask why you car about insurance costs so much.

IMO If you need options to pay attention for you, you should not drive!

Get the VIN number of a comparable car to what you want to buy and call your insurance company. Last I checked they would have a better idea than some random people on the internet.

I have been a fan of volvos for a while. The S80 never really did anything for me. I havent test driven this years or last years but they always seems underpowered for the size. The first generation was just a dog.

The new V50s are pretty slick imho. I am not sure if they have the features that yo are looking at in the s80. I am also a fan of wagons.
