Would EQ1 Still be getting expansions

So if EQ2 was actually good and stole all of WoWs thunder by releasing a little earlier than it (as opposed to releasing early and flopping), Would SoE still be supporting EQ1? It's amazing that EQ1 is still getting expansions, but I suspect it's more of an oddity than something we'll regularly see occurring with as old MMOs get replace by new sequels.

I played EQ from 2000-2003, started playing sometime after Kunark... It's amazing to realize that they have released 4x as many expansions SINCE Velious. The world of EQ seemed impossible big even at THAT point....


To answer your question though....if EQ2 had stolen and retained the majority of EQ players , I think you would have seen server consolidation alot earlier in EQ1 and development would have definitely moved to EQ2....
