would/does OSX run well on a core i3?

I'm rocking a Pentium g6950 right now. It runs really nice. I even do some video editing on it. I would spend some $$$ on a SSD though.

The 9650 uses a 1156 socket and H55 video. It did not work. I had way too many problems. Also a no go with a HD5570. The 8800GT I had laying around worked fine though.

You might have better luck with a 1155 chipset. Apple didn't use the 1156 onboard video at all, I believe, which is why it was so poor. They do you the onboard in newer Intel chips.

what?

The built-in video on previous gen Core i processors, like the Pentium G9650, wasn't used by Apple. So there are no native Apple-written OSX drivers for it. It gave me a hard time.

The newer Intel Core i chips, however, Apple does use in it's notebooks. So you'd probably have pretty good luck with it. I don't know which Core i3 you're looking at though.

OK good to know 🙂

now if I can just squeeze enough out of the kids Christmas budget this year I can have a new toy!
