OK. Can you tell us what are the markings on your RAM chips? If it's Samsung and something like GR33 or something like that then you have the same card as mine then the overclock should be fine.

This thread has already gone way beyond that bro. I wasn't asking about my RAM anyway. I know what it is, and what it can do. I'll give it a go tomorrow and let ya know what's up ;).

Vonkhan, you can rationalize it anyway you want to. No matter what you say, bad/slow/inept customer service is not an excuse to steal.

He's the consumer, it's his card. He can act toward ATI however he wants..."stealing" as you call it...or going with another manufacturer in the future if the card really sux...it's a matter of opinion.

Peace

So it's OK to steal from people/companys who have a lot money "Lord"Tyranus? Good logic there, you must be a proud "man".

first off i doubt they'd care or notice.

i also watched office space and i know now that stealing fractions of a penny is still bad.

personally if you want to i doubt it'll matter. i doubt it'll die either becaouse of it.

to whoever said getting a 9800 non pro with 2.8 ns is ok since you are just relabeling it, you are a wrong too. you are to accept the wararnty for the card the way you get it. just because you know it can do more, or is really the same as a different product does not let you mess with the warranty.

if your 9800 non pro with 2.8 ns ram dies at 9800 pro speeds, you still shouldnt get the warranty. i am not saying you wont get the warranty since i'm 100% sure you will, but if we are going to be philosophical then you shouldnt.

also my usual pot shot to you theives. people who return 9800 np cards or cpus or whatever, because it doesnt o/c well or whatever are theives. yes they just return things, but it makes everything cost more because the stores need to charge more to make up for discounting on open box stuff. thus you are stealing from honest customers you theives.

As far as the manufacturer included OCing utilities go, I don't have any problem with people using them. I did myself when I had the 5800, the nVidia drivers actually throttle the card back if it gets hot.

Besides the fact that the manufacturers have a "turbo" setting that they guarantee to work, and if you go higher, it's at your own risk. For example... the "enhanced" setting on my Gainward Ti4200 was 260/520 I believe, up from the 250/444 that it was stock.

It's bad to steal from whoever, rich or poor.

My major is EET and my professor says that sometimes when you want to make something a little bit better and it will only cost a penny more, the boss says no because its too much money, so no matter how small, its still a lot. And then you go and steal $300.

IMO overclocking is stealing and cheating the warranty is also stealing, like cheating on taxes. Everybody should get payed for what they produce.

On the other hand, companies also steal from us when we pay a large amount of money for software or music and cant do what we want with it. Like windows, only being able to install on one computer when you have two at your house. Thats stealing from us, when we buy something for that much money, I expect to install it on all my stuff.

But on the third hand (I'm defective, just kidding), these security features were applied because people are cheap and they steal, so we pay the penalty.

We steal, companies create agreements and jack up prices, and then we get angry at them and steal some more. And it keeps getting worse.

So now overclocking is stealing? Forget warranty, I don't even have a right to do what I want with my own parts now.:frown:
