Sitting in on a staff meeting gives you a glimpse of the team in action, personalities, and how your potential manager manages the team,” she said in an email.

Not every applicant gets this type of opportunity — but there is little harm in asking to attend a staff meeting, Kasper said. However, avoid asking human resources, she suggests, as the request might give the wrong impression that you have reservations about taking the job. Instead, bring it up your potential new manager.

I wouldn't. I'd rather look for / pick up on the slip ups during the interview(s) than ask for another dog & pony show. People will behave during such a request, so what is the point?

If I was an executive, then I could understanding having a group meeting with all my direct reports and heads of departments. But, not for a line level position.

I would say no the applicant's request. You don't get to suit up with the Yankees, until you are part of the team. It would be a distraction to the meeting. You expect the management and staff to honestly contribute to a team/ staff meeting. Sometimes that is pleasant and sometimes not. The interview process is about seeing people at their best. Think of the consequences of taking a girlfriend, you've dated once, to see your family. All of them.
