 I originally purchased an ATI Radeon 32mg DDR LE card which I was going to tweak up, however, the componets I bought for this new system included a purchase of a Seagate 40gig'r that was faulty. It was replaced under warrenty and when the machine was reset up recently..the vid card no longer was recognized (it had not been tweaked yet). So am in the process of trying to get it replaced and ATI said they would issue me an RMA number. In the meantime, I'm considering getting another card and I cannot afford the newest and greatest. I do like the ATI cards and don't necessarly want to get nVidia cause I don't care to promote their sole ownership of the market. OK, so what card will be most compatible with this Mobo? My CPU is an AMD Duron 950mhz, 256mgs pc133 CAS2 RAM, TB Santa Cruz, HP CD-R/RW, using WIN98se and DX7. Have not decided about using DX8 as yet. Would a 64mg Radeon DDR or one slightly newer be viable or ???? Thanks for any ideas you may have to offer :)

;) I sorta thought my question relating to a 64mg Radeon/or slightly newer would give an idea of price range? I would say probably not willing to go over 90 or so...definately under a hundred but exclusive of tax/shipping (would try to get free or something promotional from seller). :D Thanks for asking though and maybe an idea to offer? Good Hunting!

Well, you could probably find a Radeon DDR 64 Vivo for that, and that's a nice card. I don't really like any ATi cards other than the 8500 though, so if you can swallow it, I think the GF2 Ti might be better (sorry), unless you want the 2D, the DVD, and the great image quality in Serious Sam.

:) OK, thanks for that info...however I'm not really interested in whether a card has VIVO cause I really don't use it. So just a good solid card is my main concern. I also don't play Serious Sam, LOL My preferences will be leaning toward T3, Deus Ex II, Warcraft III and whatever else tickles my fancy :D I don't have a DVD player as yet and don't know that I ever will as that doesn't really interest me either. I see your stats on your rig and it was free??? How did you make out for that one? I got a FreePc also but from FreePc when it was in operation. LOL I upgraded it some awhile back but won't do much of anything more for it other than get a badly needed second HDD as it only came with a 4gig and 2gigs of it are hardcoded so I can't use it :( Anyway, it's mostly used as a backup system and a T2/FM, Deus Ex playing machine mostly. I do also have a third machine, which I'm presently typing this from and it's been upgraded as much as it can be and serves a purpose of several older games and some not quite so old...but that's why I got another system to build for the newer stuff coming up I want to get! It was running fine until a couple of weeks after my Son put it together for me and the HDD started screwing up on me...and I've been futsing with it ever since. Once I get a good Vid card in it again, it should be just fine and thank goodness I had the capability to do a whole system backup with the CD/R ;) That did help but the darn vid card just wouldn't work for some reason anymore. Well that's the story in a nutshell and hope some other suggestions will be forthcoming. Thanks again and Good Hunting!
