would anyone recommend getting a $GB expansion pack for the psp?

Is that the one with the hard drive? Yes, it's bulky and takes more battery life. Get a 1 or 2 GB mem stick.

Doesn't matter, PSP can only read upto 4gigs. I don't know what would happen if you partition it though...the psp format might just reformat it then to 4gigs.
