I will build 15-20 computers for business environment. My main concern is price and stability. I will be coupling this mobo with either P3 FCPGA or Celery2. I also like CUV4X because it has onboard sound.

Has there been any stability issues with your CUV4X ?
Would you recommend good old 440BX mobo instead?

Also, I don't care about ATA66/100.... or even AGP4x and stuff. TNT2 vanta will go with this combo.

Thanks for any opinion.

I hesitate to give advice to an IT guy that is going to build systems for a work envinronment, but...WTF, here goes anyway. I have a P3V4X which is basically the same as the CUV4X. I have found this board to perform very well once the bugs were worked out. Known problems include video will not function when system comes out of sleep mode and various software related interface issues with the VIA chipset. For example, I could not flash the firmware on my HP CD burner for some reason. I installed the drive in an old BX system and the flash went fine. Strange stuff. Regarding the video/sleep problem, some configs work and others do not. Sorry I can not explain further, I wish I could. Before I bought 20+ of these boards, I would pick up one and play around with it to see if it's compatable with your network and software. Beter safe than sorry.

man... it sound sucks :(

What other alternatives are out there ? Reviews has pointed out that Gigabyte Socket 370 VIA mobo seems like a good alternative.

Hey, I don't like building cheapo stuffs for business environment as well. I would prefer getting 1Ghz proc, latest i815 mobo, geforce ultra and stuffs like that. But it's just not possible for business environment to throw money like that.

Any other opinions will be appreciated.

Yes... Duron or Athlon would be OK as well..
It;s just that people have this image that Intel is always better than AMD which is not necessarily true.

Anyway... yeah .. please give out your suggestion. maybe AMD system would make sense in our meeting.

The CUV4X is a good PIII motherboard. I have been using mine for four months with Win 2000 and Win ME. Using CAS2 RAM helps the performance.

I had a CUV4X before I gravitated to the CUSL2 but I found the CUV4X to be very stable and easy to work with.

yes the CUV4X is perfect for a stable environment like that.
it has all of the features even if u don't care, and it's price is pretty good!

I wouldn't really recommend any BX boards instead due to upgradeablity down the road with the CUV4X will be alot easier and BX boards are also quite expensive!

I actually went for duron system and settled with MSI K7T ... Quite a decent board I heard.

Anyway, thanks for all the comment ! :) Building an AMD system makes more sense nowadays because of price/performance factor.
