Would anybodyhappen know if a Foxconn 661GX7MJ-H will work with a Celeron Conroe 420?

I order this board from newegg for $8 to make a cheapo system for my parents and I get no video or beeps from the board. I've tried different memory, power supply and video cards.

The chipset is probably too old; doesn't support the newer Intel cpus. Your board probably uses agp and ddr memory.

I don't see anything on here about Conroe-Ls (or any Core 2 CPUs) being supported. It supports the "Pentium D / Pentium 4 HT / Celeron D" line of CPUs.

yeah I read the reviews and one of them said they had a cedarmill running and apparently that is not a core2duo processor like I originally thought. I am still under the assumption that the conroe celeron is just a crippled core2duo, though.

It is not. It is a Pentium 4.

Pretty much, yes.

Your board's Northbridge chipset is an old SiS chipset. It "supports the latest 533MHz Front Side Bus clock". It would be a miracle for it to support any Core michroarchitecture (Core 2 and similar) product.

I think you can get this info from Fosconn's website, or by emailing them.
