I have a track I recorded off radio many, many years ago, but I have no idea of the title or artist. If I could find a place to upload a segment, would anybody be able to identify it?

Opens with a brush on cymbals, then some bass strings before some keyboard comes in.

The track is about 7M, but I'll try to clip the first minute or so when I get a chance.


It's good enough to me that I'd like to be able to seek out more from the artist, whoever it is.

This is the first 3 1/2 minutes or so, about 5M. The first minute and half are cymbals, then the bass kicks in .....

There's a melody there I recognize, but I can't put my finger on it. 1970s, which isn't my forte. Maybe Weather Report? I'll poke around my collection, and see if anything jumps out at me.

Not live as far as I can tell, no crowd noise. It's at least 7 minutes, but it was recorded on cassette and the tape ended there ... suddenly.


Somewhere in the back of my head, I'm thinking Thelonious Monk, but I don't have any other known tracks to compare it to. I also hear shades of Wayne Shorter, Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis and others.

You don't have an Android phone? You can use google search/assistant and have it listen and identify.

I came to say that. Just click the microphone icon on the search bar on any Android phone. It isn't 100% perfect on obscure music, but it identifies over 95% of what I search for.

Or, if you don't have Android, Cortana on a Windows computer will do it if you have a microphone.

i was gonna see about it, but i got like 35 pop ups just being on that page, then it wanted me to download some stuff other than the file. can you put it somewhere that doesnt look like it wants to fuck my pc into a brick?
