would any 1 reccomend me getting direct X 8

Correct me if I'm wrong but I read somewhere else that if you install DirectX 8 (this is still a beta, isn't it?) being that it is a beta, you can't uninstall it. You just have to wait till the newer release.

Forgive me if I'm wrong. Just started getting into this stuff and trying to help.

yeah I have found a good article @ the tec zone. There is really no games/hardware that take advantage of direct X8. So I will stick with good old 7 .


I guess DX8 is kind of like a G force2 64meg. Who really need all that!

My Voodoo is just fine for Q3

"really no hardware out for it" That statement is right for the beta version but when the final version comes out. The NV20 will have full support for DX8 and will in fact need DX8 in order to run right. With NVIDIA and Epic working together now, I'm sure they will mod the Unreal engeine to support the new features.

Of course this is all my option.

I installed dx8 in my pc [W2k] and noticed and increase from 5000 something to 6800+ in 3d mark 2000.
