Hello:
I am building a new pc, mainly for gaming. I got a asus p8z77-v MOBO so far, and was planing to get an i5 3570k. But i found a dealer selling an i5 3570 for £100. I am not going to OC any thing, so would it be ok just get the non K version?

Budget is not exactly the problem, but I just don't want to spend too much on some thing I don't really need, like a £1000 GPU etc...

Please give me some advises. Thank you.

pc build list
PSU Corsair Builder Series CX 600 Watt ATX/EPS 80 PLUS Bronze Power Supply Unit or CX 500
CPU Intel 3rd Generation Core i5-3570K CPU or i5-3570?
Motherboard Asus P8Z77-V Bought already
GPU HD7870 GHZ or GTX 660 OC may be 7950 if got a good offer or more money
RAM 8G >1600hz
CASE NZXT Phantom 410

Yes.

If you do not plan on overclocking and found a good deal on a (non-k) 3570, then go for the 3570. The unlocked part (3570k) is really only helpful if you plan on overclocking it either today or in the future.

He's right of course, you don't need the k version if you won't overclock it.

That said, are you really sure you won't overclock it? I said the same thing to myself in the past. Then I found out how easy it is to get 4.0 (actually a lot more than that) out of it and figured "why not". 5 minutes later it was done.

So I ask - If you could have a 4.0 GHz CPU for the price of a 3570k, would you buy it? You have some nice parts listed there, I'm guessing you do or plan to game. Why not get a 4.0, 4.2, maybe 4.5 Gig chip for just a little more money?
