Would an AMD64 be the cause of this?

ok, everytime i try to run any benchmarking software(ie, aquamark3) i get that error, "exception access violation". even after a format and at stock speeds. all my other games run with no prob.

i am running an AMD64 +3500 with 1g OCZ Rev2 Plat with 2-2-2-5 timings on a A8N-E ASUS board and a saphire x800xl PCI-e and WD SATA 74g raptor.

from what a friend said this is caused becaused the 64 chips dont like the 2-2-2-5 timings and said i should set it at 2.5-3-3-5. i'm not sure how true that is because i've seen benches with 64bit chips and those timings, and i cant find a fix for this anywhere. so does anyone know if this is true about the 64bit chips or should i post this else where?

strange. does this only happen with aquamark? try 3dmark03 or 05. try running memtest86 and see if there are any errors.

its the Winchester core 90nm.

i can run 3dmark01SE...whoopy.....wont even load 03 or 05. and dam, i forgot about memtest. will run that when i get home.

Ahhh....the winchester cores can sometimes be a bit problematic when it comes to ram timings. I would try loosening things up a bit and see what happens.

hmmm, i'll try the 2.5-3-3-5 timings when i get home. if that wont fix it, you think a 3-3-3-5 timing might be better? voltage wouldnt play a role in this you think?

what are you running the ram at? You might be able to play with the voltage to try and keep your latencies down, but I don't think it will work. When I had my winchester I went through so many pairs of ram trying to get a set that would run at the rated SPD timings with no luck. I always had to loosen them up a bit regardless of voltage, but it's worth a shot to try it.

I Don't think is the ram Timeing

I Couldn't run Aquamark3 without errors(i used to get the same one as you.), I assumed it was my hardware but turns out to be the lack of the update
try downloading :

AquaMark3 Hotfix Download

This is Version 1.53 of Entech's Powerstrip "Direcpll.dll", it is recommended to properly run AquaMark3 with some newer graphics hardware.
It fixes problems like black screens, exceptions/access violations and incorrect clock speed detection.

Please download direcpll-153.zip (34kb), then locate your AquaMark3 directory (i.e. C:\Programs\AquaMark3\), backup the original "direcpll.dll" and finaly unpack the downloaded .zip file into your AquaMark3 directory, overwriting "direcpll.dll".

NINaudio, is that why you got rid of yer winchester and went with Venice core? and how is the Venice core?

Matrix21, i'll DL that when i get home and try that first, cause i dont want to loosen up the timing if i dont have to.

I got rid of my Winchester to get a Venice cause I was having trouble with memory dividers and I figured it was some issues with the memory controller and my CH-5 memory. The Venice solved the problem with the dividers, but I STILL can't get HTT above 240 unless I keep the CPU around 1.6-1.7 GHz and run the RAM at the lowest divider. Then I can get HTT all the way up above 280.

I have the same excat problem after I changed my ati9600 to ati x800xl agp. It's not the memory, cpu or overclocking. It's the stupid video card. When I use my old video card aqua works pefectly, but as soon as I change the video card to x800xl I get that error with aquamark. Everything else works fine. Even the hot fix didn't help me. I even reinstalled the drivers and windows. The only way to figure this out is to test it with another video card.
Here is the error

You mean this one? but didn't work for me. It's only aquamark that's crashing, so I assuming my video card is fine.
