would almost all PC's aroung 700 - 900 Mhz have 3 ram slots?

A friend of mine has a 700 Mhz PC and my DAD 900 Mhz both have a single stick of 256 MB of ram I know a guy selling some ram but it is 4 sticks of 128 MB so I wasn't sure if my dad and friend would still have 2 slots for it left.

It's 100% dependent on your dad's motherboard, you could ask him to crack the side panel off and try and count, they aren't to hard to identify. The frequency of the cpu has nothing to do with the number of RAM slots, I know of tons of socket A and 754 motherboards that only have 2 ram slots.
