His point is still valid, though. The reason they're so expensive is a direct result of them being illegal.

BTW, heroin is derrived from opium, which is also grown, harvested, dried, and smoked. 😉

I only chose Bush because of the fairly recent anti-drug ads showing us that buy pot are funding terrorism. If that were true, the administration could legalize drugs, the prices would PLUMMET, and terrorists would get a LOT less funding. All the while saving the US a French ton of dollar bills that could fund the abortions those poor strippers in DC all have to get two months after congress goes into session.

exactly my point. 😉 Was just trying to make a point that "It's natural, therefor it should be legal!"(while I agree with it😉), doesen't really hold much water.

There were a heck of a lot of people who were making gin in thier bathtubs during prohibition. I remeber in Pattons biography reading that Eisenhower used to be famous for his moonshine. So while I think pricewise it would be more expensive more people would be giving the stuff away. Then of course you alway have to worry about going blind because of Uncle Chuck's bad moonshine recipe

About 10 or 15yrs ago, IIRC the estimates for taxation of currently illegal drugs rang in at 10-15 billion per year. I'd imagine it would be much higher now
