I'm thinking get a TBird 800/100, and when the AMD760 boards show up that can handle a 133Mhz FSB, try and push the TBird to 8x133 for 1066.

Think it'll make it?

Edit: Oh yeah, and and what would you recommend for the Heatsink/Fan ona SocketA TBird?

If you were lucky enough to get a copper one 1066 shouldn't be much trouble.

Perty sure my is alum. and it will not boot at 1.1, but it run at 1066 however, its unstable. And thats a TB 900 with a nice alpha pal35 with an extremley powerful 60mm fan. So, I wouldn't count on it.

The al chips seem to hit a wall at about 950 mhz, while cu's can go higher. Just ask intel. They got to only 700 or so (if that) before they had to switch.

You do know that all of intel's chips are aluminum right?
coppermines aren't actually copper...
They have 1Ghz CopperMines that are still aluminum interconnects.

Oh well..maybe I'll just got back to my original idea of buying an Alpha P1725 and GFD and crank on my 550, and wait out the P4 and Mustang...thanks for the help though guys.

That's not entirely fair...intel does name all their chips after rivers, and the coppermine is a river...but it is misleading nonetheless..

LOL, no their ingenious marketing dept. came up with that name.
Their interntal code names like Coppermine and Williamette are rivers.
Coppermine is not an offical intel name, according to them the coppermines and the older P3s are all Pentium3s. "Coppermine" is not the name of a CPU, it was the name of a design project that moved the cache of the Pentium3 ondie. People have kept up the name to distinguish it from the older P3, but it's not offical.
