would a thermalright xp-90 be good enough for a c2d e6420?

getting an e6420 this weekend from newegg, and of course im going to ditch the stock cooler and grab a thermalright xp90 (or should i spend 12 bucks more and get an xp90c?).

would the thermalright be enough to cool a c2d? its probably going to be overclocked very high (past 3Ghz).

For the price of an XP-90C, you would be much better off getting a Tuniq Tower or Ultra-120. The XP-90 is becoming dated and its performance is at the same level as the AC Freezer 7 Pro, which is much cheaper anyway.

I'd either get the Ultra 90 which does a great job on C2D and can be had for about $20, or I'd up your budget and get an Ultra 120, TT, Scythe Infiniti or Enzo.

thanks for the responses guys. i thought that the thermalright is outdated by now...

ive got it narrowed down to the AC freezer 7 pro or the thermalright ultra-90. the problem is with height for the ultra-90, cause it looks really tall and i dont know if it'll fit my case(silverstone LC-17 htpc case).

what do you guys think i should pick? ultra-90 or freezer 7 pro?

I'd go with Freezer 7 Pro. I have the AMD version on my 2.8 GHz X2 right now, and it works great. Plus you get MX-1 thermal paste pre-applied on it, and MX-1 is arguably one of the top 3 thermal pastes out there (better than AS5 by a couple of degrees C).
