Would a T-Bird 1.4 Ghz be a bottleneck for a Geforce 4 ?

Seems like my processors and video cards are always mismatched...
I never buy both at the same time, so one's always out dated.

I used to have a Pentium 2 450 Mhz with a Velocity 4400 video card (TNT 16 MEG)

Then I got a Geforce 2 GTS... processor was obiously a bottleneck (Lots of tearing, clipping in games)

Upgraded to an AMD 1.4 Ghz ..got 512 megs of RAM too

Everything nice for awhile. .Some new games starting to get slow.

So I'm thinking of getting either a Geforce 4 4400 (should be adequate for awhile)
or a Geforce 3 Ti200 (definitely not as fast, but $100 cheaper..may be outdated soon)

Would the T-Bird hold back the performance of the Geforce 4 ?

I will upgrade my CPU eventually..
but by then Geforce 5 will probably be out.

No way it is the 1.4 I would check the system in general. Do you have lots of software loading? What is the general condition of the OS?

A 1.4GHz T-Bird is more than enough power for anything out there today. Is your RAM DDR? SDRAM would be a bottleneck. Otherwise, you should be all set. Personally I'd get a Gigabyte R8500 and o/c it, you can obtain those obscenely high frame rates with one of those at 315/315.. only thing is the AA performance hit is greater, so GF4 still has an edge. Anyway, that would leave you money to upgrade something else in your system.

Yeah.. I have DDR Ram

The main reason I'm looking into a Geforce 4 besides it being more powerful
is the Dual monitor possibilities

The thing that makes the decision even tougher is that fact that the Radeon 8500 can do dual monitors too. Personally, I chose a GeForce 4 for my rig. And your CPU wont be a bottleneck.
