Would a switch or printer cause interference with a monitor?

I have had 2 different monitors now that this has happened and i know it is neither of the monitors fault. my screen seems to just slightly shake or twitch continually and i have no idea why. i have a sony g520p right now and if i run it at anything under 100hz it does it. i'm running currently at 1600x1200 @ 85hz and it's just kinda irritating. my old monitor (sony hmd-200) did the same thing but i could never get that to run at 100hz. at anything more than 60 it would shake. i thought it was the monitor but i dealt with it for a while till i got the one i'm using now. however, now when i hook my old one up to my g/fs pc in a different part of the room it doesn't shake anymore. the only thing that have near my monitor is a netgear switch mounted beside the monitor (maybe 8" away) and an hp 932c printer about the same distance away. my pc is in an enclosure in my desk. and my sub for my soundworks digital speakers is below my monitor under the desk. would any of this cause this shaking problem? please give your opinions cuz i have no idea what to do.

Anything that generates a magnetic field can effect the path of elecrons from the CRT gun to the CRT phosphor. Do you have any AC/DC adapters close by? How far away are your speakers, especially the sub? The reason you don't see the problem as much with higher frequencies is that the refresh rate is fast enough to negage the influence of the offending magnetic field.

I know this out there, but it's worth a shot. For awhile my monitor was doing the same thing. After like 5 months of messing around with things I realized it was the lights in my room causing it. They are just normal lights, so I was really confused. So I dug out my flashlight and started looking at the wires for my lights. I realized at one point the shielding was missing. I don't know why, but it was. I'm glad I found it then, because that is very dangerous. So I promptly covered it with electrical tape, and it fixed my problem.

So my advice, check for any bare wires.
