i got my DDR400 mushkin yesterday. My current mobo is an abit kt7 which still uses pc133 memory. the Asus K8N-E delux has not arrive yet. I was just wonder if i can put the DDR400 in to test if they work. will it clock down to PC133 speed by itself?

also, theres a possibility that i might get 2 gig of DDR400 instead of 1gig. Will i notice the extra gig in games and applications as well as windows 2000?

Negative. PC133 is SDRAM... PC3200 is DDR. If the motherboard only has SDRAM DIMM slots, then the highest it can run is PC133.

Sdram & DDR are 2 different types of ram, they will not fit.

Sdram has 2 notches while DDR has only 1.

You also would most likely not notice a difference between 1gig and 2gigs. Unless working with huge models/images/video files.

Yeah there really isnt a difference, when it comes to gaming or every day use. Heck, even in Doom 3, didnt Anandtech test that 1GB of ram only gave like 2 or 3 extra FPS over 512mb?

Depends on what applications you mean, but probably not. 1gb seems fine for games now.
