Would a P3 fan on a P4 chip work with extra fans on the side?

Would this be P4 or P3 heatsink? There is nothing magical about heatsinks. I used a P2 one on my old 300A. As long as it can cool it doesn't matter what it's from.

BTW wrong forum ;)

Go buy a p4 fan you lazy bastard.

Im looking for a fan but the board i bought is the size of a cd rom. It wont take the regular P4 heat sink even though its a P4 board.

there is a 478 socket and the place to clip the heatsink on ala old school heat sinks

I sure wouldn't. (How would you even mount it??? Rubber bands? They're totally different mounting systems.)

Acquire the correct part for the task!

I have a couple of Intel (retail box) P4 fans that I don't use anymore--I'll send you one for a 2.4C for, oh, say, $10 (shipping included in the US) to make it worth my time, if you agree to give me a damn Heatware rating when you receive it (I'm registered under "Thegonagle"), unlike the last guy I sold something to. (I wonder if that other guy is still around--I should try bugging him again to give me a rating.)

EDIT: Never mind the above offer.

What does the board manufacturer recommend you use?

I'd personally worry about having two or three fans "fighting" each other, because it might actually cause dead spots in airflow due to unintended turbulence.

No date set yet last time I checked.

Probably the Comell or Insight board, though I don't recall either of them having the clips.
