Would a GeForce 2 GTS work on my current PC?

If I was to get a ASUS V7700 32mb GeForce GTS video card would it work in my 300 mhz Intel Celeron computer until I buy a computer upgrade in a couple months? My computer has 64 megs of RAM and currently I have a ATI Xpert 98 card installed. Would the GeForce 2 GTS work? Or should I wait until I get my 1.2 Ghz Thunderbird?

Will it work? Yes, as long as your motherboard has the proper AGP slot.

Will it work well? No, because it will be heavily limited by your CPU. You will definitely see an improvement over the Xpert 98 card, though. You won't see the maximum performance of the card until you upgrade to a better CPU (and hopefully more memory, 64MB is a little slim to be playing games on). In the meantime, though, it should work okay.

I have a Gigabyte GA-6BXC motherboard. If I got the card would it improve my FPS in Counter-Strike? Right now I get 5-12 fps in software mode @ 512 x 430 or something.

well I dont think that cpu can bush more than like 25fps average. You would be able to run at 1600*1200*32 without any slow down though.

I'm going to get a geforce 2 and run it on my celly 300a @450 until i can get a duron 850, From what i've seen it should do okay, alot better than my v3 according to some old articles that benchmarked the cards on a 500mhz p3 system
