Would a 700mhz Pc with a Geforce 3 Ti500 play RTCW?

Amd 700mhz
384 mb Pc133
Geforce 3 Ti500

Is that quite enough to play games like RTCW or UT2K3?

I actually have a TNT2 32mb, but I might buy a Gf3 card if it's worth the upgrade.

Soon I'll get a Cpu/mobo upgrade, but at least I'll have a video card when i do.

Thanks for any info.

You will probably be able to play RTCW. Might have to turn down the detail a little bit. I only have the demo of UT2k3, but it seems pretty cpu dependant so I don't know how well a 700 mhz will fare.

I played RTCW once before when I had a Amd 1.2 and Gf2....It played ok, I was just curious if a better video card supplements a slower cpu...

Yes.

Still, for your processor an GF3 Ti200 will be enough, but if you find a cheap Ti500 - go for it. If you are planning the CPU/mobo upgrade consider the GeForce4 Ti4200. Actually, I'm running a GF3 Ti200 with my P4 1.6A @ 2.14. This card was in my "old" P3 650 @ 866 MHz system before. With this old system I played and finished RTCW (@1024x768x32).

As soon as Doom3 gets close to release I'm gonna build a Pc good enough to play it. As for now i just play counterstrike, and soon I'll see what I can do to play RTCW until that new rig is built.

thanks for the info

YES!!!

Dude, I play RTCW on a Win98 machine with a P3-650 and a GF2 GTS, using 1024x768, and although I never bothered to check out the frame rate, I NEVER had problems with the game (slide show or the like)

I played RTCW on a PIII 1Ghz, 512MB with a G2 Pro. I was able to play RTCW@1024x768x32 High Details.

I would get a faster CPU. AMD 1.2GHz is only $50 shipped and get a card from the list below thats around $80.

G3 ti200 64MB.........$84
Ati 8500 64MB..........$81
Ati 8500 128MB..........$97
Ati 9000 128MB.......$81
Ati 9000 Pro 64MB...$72

*Anything over $100 you should look at a G4 Ti4200 64MB or 128MB.

Yea, it'll run no prob, that video card can easily handle it. CPU is a little weak, but it's all good.

You shouldn't have too much of a problem. I played it fine with a P3 733 and a Geforce 2mx w/32mb ram.

I played it on a Athlon 550 with a Radeon 64 MB DDR VIVO (original Radeon)at 1024x768x32 and it did really well with no glitches.

Both games are highly CPU dependant and will struggle on that processor. I had a 1.333 GHz TBird and after I upgraded to a 2.0A GHz Northwood the difference was like night and day in RTCW.

I actually have a TNT2 32mb, but I might buy a Gf3 card if it's worth the upgrade.
Don't waste your time with a Ti500 - get a Radeon 8500 or a Ti4200 instead.

I've played UT2k3 on an 800MHz Duron system with a Radeon SDR PCI 32MB video card. It has to be run at 800x600 with low details to be playable, but it works.

I had (before i upgraded) virtually the same system albiet with 256Mb of RAM and a Ti200. It could cope with anything until Tourney 2003 came along... now its a 1800+ XP with 256Mb DDR and new mobo and the Ti200 runs at 250/535 (faster than your Ti500!) and now its copes with UT2003 at max settings at 1024x768 with NO major slowdowns! I upgraded to this for just £143 (about $210) for memory (PC2100), CPU, 2600+ Fan/Heatsink and ECS K7S5A Mobo. I f I was you, upgrade that CPU 1st as that is whats holding your GF3 back. For example, on my ol' Duron 700, I got just 4359 3DMarks on 2001SE, now i get nearly 8600! Just make sure your board supports a CPU faster than 1Ghz. If its an Athlon, you would get 1.4Ghz max on a 200 bus, if it's a 266 bus you better check the BIOS updates to see if it supports the XP's. If it's a PIII then your buggered unfortnately, as you couldn't get past 1Ghz. But, hey back to the question! YES IT WILL RUN RTCW and even MOH:AA on Omaha (might struggle, but do that upgrade and it flies!)

Hope I answered your question!

sorry, forget the ramble about the PIII, you do have a AMD! Oops.

It will play it without any problems in 1024*768. You'll need to go down to 800*600 in Multiplayer however, especially on bigger servers.

Also, like someone else said, consider getting a Geforce 4 Ti 4200. It's quite a bit faster and only a bit more expensive in a lot of places.

btw, make sure that you have an AGP slot!!! I can't stress this enough! You need one for the Geforce 3 Ti 200.

Look on your mobo, you should see 3-or-so white plug-ins for network cards, sound cards etc. There should be one in brown, too, otherwise you don't have an AGP Slot.
