Would a 1991 Volvo 740 turbo make a good project car?

I can get this car for probably $800. It runs, has 215k, paint is somewhat faded, and one of the front quarter panels has been replaced/repainted, interior is OK, worn and has some panels such as speaker grills missing. Owner has service records from the dealer. The car has had at least $1500 dollars in repairs each of the last couple of years. I wonder if this could be made into a nice RWD sleeper if I put some work/money into it.

I've got a '88 740 wagon, and its insanely slow. Its the na engine though. Thats an alright price, but dont expect to make it fast without replacing just about everything... 215k is a lot, even for a volvo.

Yeah, at 215 you're probably looking at a rebuild. However, those volvo engines are awesome. Bolt on a fat turbo, bigger intercooler and do some fairly cheap fuel mods and you'll by flying.

If its a project car, your first project is a 5-speed😉

I thought you were supposed to be on your way to earning riches over in Iraq. How full of bullsh*t are you anyway?

Who said I couldn't have a project car? I will be coming back at some point. I also never said I was going to Iraq. Nice to see you are still your old cheery self however.

I thought Perknose said Iraq, assumed he was correct.

Nonetheless, 90% of the crap you type is BS, so WTF are you whining about? So lets see if I have a handle on Justin logic:

Your new "job" keeps you out of the country for extended periods of time, enough so that it may damage your marriage. This must mean it's a good time to purchase a "project car" that'll sit and rot for who knows how long......and "unfortunately" its an auto......

Maybe in your world this makes perfect sense........

WTF?

You sir, are a complete and utter moron,... -- Bowfinger

Sums it up nicely.

Ummm, exactly.......

5/6 Justin says he's got a new job taking him out of the country for extended periods of time.....

5/7 Justin says he's just completed the paperwork for an "extended leave of absence" at his job.....

Oh, and please do pay particular attention to the title of the thread from that last link, perhaps inquiring as to its context if you're not familiar with Justin's recent idiocy polluting P&N.

Then today, 5/9, Justin inquires about a "project car", one that evidently wouldn't be his first choice since it "unfortunately" doesn't have a stick........

Yes Eli, WTF indeed!
