I want to do video and sound editing, dvd authoring and some gaming with this new comp:

------
Intel Pentium 4 2.4BGHz 512K 533MHz CPU Northwood P478 Processor

ASUS P4PE/R/L/SATA Motherboard for Intel P4 478 Retail w/ Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, SATA, Onboard LAN, Firewire IEEE1394, Serial ATA SoundMAX Digital Audio System

Maxtor 120GB 7200RPM Hard Drive 8MB OEM

512 MB Crucial DDR C2700 ? CL=2.5 ? Unbuffered ? Non-parity ? 6ns ? 2.5V ? 64Meg x 64

WD WESTERN DIGITAL 40GB 7200RPM EIDE HARD DRIVE MODEL

ANTEC Performance PLUS Model PLUS1080AMG- with Antec Original TRUE 430W P4 Power Supply ATX12V

Cendyne or Sony dvd burner

M-Audio Audiophile 2496 sound card

Canopus ADVC-100 video capture card

Radeon 8500 video card

------

I'm not sure how to calculate the watts needed for my particular setup. My main reason for this post is to decide whether or not to buy the power supply separate from the case since I was aiming for the Antec 1080 with the 430 power supply - now I'm thinking of getting an Antec 480 with a different case. Your help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

The Antec Truepower 430 is plenty. On the other hand, a generic 400 or 450W PSU could probably weighed done by that. I think a high end 350 may even be enough, but stick with the Truepower 430. If you really want the 480, you can get Antec cases just like the 1080 without a PSU.
