Worthy upgrade? friend offered $200 for my X800XL

I'm lookin at Newegg at the EVGA - $369 with a $20 rebate = $350

So thats only $150 to go from a X800XL to a 7800GT.

What do you guys think?

Yes, And ignore the whole what res do you play at question. right now its head and shoulders better when playing at rezes 1284 and higher, but what people tend to forget is eventually games will get to the point where it plays like crap at 800x600. With a X800 that point will happen much sooner then with a 7800GT.

I game at 1280X1024 pretty much all the time.

I have a 19" Samsung CRT - 1280X1024 is definately its sweet spot.

So do you think the difference would even be noticable? Would shader 3.0 be worth it alone?

p.s. I paid $300 for my X800XL about 8 months ago - so I'm only losing $100 in the deal.

$200 is pretty good for an X800XL right now, I'd jump on it. They're going for less than that in FS/FT and you won't have to deal with Paypal fees or shipping

i don't think x800xl can handle that resolution with aa on
7800 gt can gurantee you that

Is it just me or at prices on the 7800GT's going up a little bit?? I bought mine 3 weeks ago for 331 WITHOUT a rebate at the Egg(gotta love those one day sales) now the cheapest I see is 335 with a rebate...and alot of the cards migrated back to the 399 point....or maybe I'm just going crazy cuz my g/f's here?

why should he ignore the res question?yes its a good card and i love mine but the card he has is good at lower res and mybe it would be worth waiting 6 odd months for the next gen cards which rumour has it are gonna be the b0ll0x,bearing in mind thats a good price for his xl and he could sell the gt when the time came for more,theres 2 sides to everything

I had the same question. I thought about selling my X800XL on ebay, and getting a 7800gt for $299 after rebate.

What do you guys think? Is there a big improvement to the 7800GT?

Hmm, I don't think there would be that big of a difference... it x800xl offers plenty of muscle at this point in time, so you probably won't need it unless you're running at crazy resolutions.
