My oldest, most useless piece of tech is an IDE laptop HDD - the really thick one. It's 100mb, I believe.

I also have, for unknown reasons, a mobile Pentium chip that's soldered onto some kind of slot-load card.

Also have a box full of old Verizon flip phones. No chargers.

Edit: I don't have any of that junk from the article except an HTC T-Mobile Wing. Not sure if that counts as "Palm Pilot or PDA" though.

did they bury the remaining stock of those in the desert anywhere? :)

ET has set the bar pretty high as far as useless goes....

I'm pretty sure I have E.T. In my collection. Also lots of duplicate titles like you have.

Hi, my name is Nick, and I am a hoarder

I started going through my computer stuff this week, I have about 10 pentium 2 motherboard, at least 20 cpus, and mountains of ram

I'm actually wondering how many of each generation of boards I should keep in case of an apocalypse and I suddenly need them...

That article sounds like people are holding onto their stuff assuming it's going to be worth something. I'm pretty sure most of us are just lazy and don't intend to sell it. I have a whole bunch of stuff that's garbage, but I don't even know where to go to recycle it properly. So it stays in a box in the basement. At least 2 broken laptops, lots of old HDDs, cables, consoles, controllers, etc.

I have a VCR. It's not hooked up though I just put it in my home entertainment cabinet for kicks. I don't even have VHS tapes anymore, the ones I had at home were in a box and were Disney kids movies and they went to my nephews (who unfortunately don't really take good care of them) Some good classics were in there though...

I also recently scored a tube TV with a built in VCR, oh yeah! It was destined to the recyclers and I figured, meh, I'll take it. Needed a small TV in the basement for working out so figured I'd put that in. Now I just need some exercise tapes to go with it LOL.

I unfortunately don't have all my old nintendo stuff anymore. Used to have a NES, SNES and also a regular Playstation. Interestingly I got a Wii U when they came out and it was my first console since the Playstation. :D

I have boxes full of old computer parts too, IDE drives, old ram, pretty sure I have like 20 token ring network cards somewhere with the BNC connector. I should setup a token ring network lol.

I have lots of parts, but not much in the way of gadgets. the most useless thing I bought was a USB floppy drive. I got it cheap, but it's never been used.

Just get another piece of old tech to go along with it, like this:

(Actually Agilent still sells this with the floppy drive...)

Is XBOX DVD playback even progressive-scan (480p)? Of course, component cables would be required and most XBOX owners never had that.

Yes I got the upgraded connector which has the 3-video, 2-audio component cables connected to it. Good stuff for its time! Don't laugh but I still have a 57" Sony from 2002 still connected to it. No HDMI or internet capability of course.

I don't keep that much around but I definitely keep my old game consoles and specific games. Also I've got a mishmash of <5y old PC hardware in the closet.
