ARGGGGHH

Now I have that out of the way, I can post what I really want to say. I suck at Math, and I'm not really a fan of Science. I could cope with Science, but my Math is so bad that I had trouble with really basic stuff. My mind just screams at me to leave when I start doing it, and I have no interest in it whatsoever.

The only thing I am fairly talented in is English. I find it so much easier than anything else, but the problem is that if I do a degree in English I'm going to be unemployed. What should I do?

There are lots of options for English majors, and not all of them involve graduate degrees.

I'm with MrChad on this one, an English degree is a decent foundation for several career fields, but you'll probably need to put in a couple more years @ grad school.

I have a friend who got an English degree. The best he could ever do was a clerk at a bookstore. He's a great Mr. Mom now though.

This is information that should have been of importance 4 years ago.

Your best bet now is to pursue a master's in something you can actually use.

The whole job search thing, he's not doing it right.

You shouldn't have a problem getting a job with any 4 year degree.
I have one in Political Science and one in History. I am an underwriter for professional liability insurance. A degree is just a piece of paper to get your foot in the door.

My friend graduated with a degree in English with a concentration in Classical Studies. She's done Teach for America in Philly for a year and now she's teaching in Chicago (teaching English in high school, 9th/10th grade).

Your degree ONLY matters for your first job. Get an internship halfway through school and move on up from there.

I majored in Marketing (although my minor is in IS Business Management) and I'm a Network Admin. As far as hiring people I couldn't care less about their degree as long as they have some sort of work history (in IT anyway..)

For people going into IT: major in something else. You might end up hating IT, and this way you have a fallback.

The problem is that I feel inadequte with English. It seems so limited. I really wish I was a math genuis or something, as I'm sure I would have tons more options open to me. Damn genes.

I'm not a math genius either, but I get by.

Have you considered a degree in legal field?

You really need to look at what career fields interest you, and work backwards from there. What sort of degrees do these fields require?

Despite what the media, your teachers and your parents say, college is not for everyone.

Have you checked out any trade schools?

my gf stinks at math and she became an accountant. She isn't that bad at it either. She even got internships at Deloitte and John Hancock and they even wanted her back there.
