Worthless 6800PCIE 6800NU review at GamePC

Why??????

I'm very interested in this card for SLI, and thanks to Game PC I now know absolutely nothing about it's performance.

What a wasted opportunity. They have a 256MB 6800NU and they test all cards at 10X7 0X0X, and 16X12 0X0X.

It's pretty commonly known the 6800s sweet spot is 10X7 and 12X10 some AA/AF, apparently GamePC hasn't heard of these features yet.

This card could be a bang for buck SLI champ, we won't find out today. 🙁

🙁
Where the heck are the other reviews of this card?

I don't know if any of you have noticed, but if you'd like to even think about SLI these days, the vendors are gouging.

At $365/each in stock at newegg, this may well be the only SLI you can buy for under $1000 that doesn't have a 128 bit 6600GT on it.

Also of note- this card needs no external power connector- so you've got 2.5% less fillrate than a 6600GT SLI rig, 20% more memory bandwidth than a GT sli rig (if that 600MHz is right, not neweggs advertised 700MHz) and 256 MB more of RAM.

I think you are being too scared off by numbers, because as everyone has shown, the 128 bit memory really hasnt hindered the performance of the 6600gt much at all. It is very close to the performance of the 6800, so paying almost 200 dollars more doesnt seem reasonable.

It depends on the benchmark. Put some 4X AA on the 6600GT, and performance dives.

Interestingly, this is the same memory bandwidth/fillrate matchup the 5800U vs 9700P had, and people fell all over themselves decrying the 5800Us lack of bandwidth.

The 6600GT has the same amount, and people fall all over themselves saying it doesn't matter.

It MAY not, but I want SLI benchmarks at settings like 10X7 4X8X and 12X10 4X8X to decide that.

just curious, but if the 6800pcie cards can be unlocked, and there true 256MB cards, with a good mem oc, wouldn't it possibly be very close to 68gt's?

No, because the RAM on them is only rated for 700MHz. No cheap GTs for us.

It's a store. Would you trust a review written by Best Buy? 😛
